osemount Inn & Spa, a handsome limestone villa is centrally located in downtown Kingston's venerable "Old Stones" neighbourhood. The aura of Victorian comfort apparent in the antique-decorated guest rooms extends to the award-winning garden, an outdoor retreat carefully designed for quiet repose and conversation. Rosemount was built in the 1840s for dry-goods merchant Edward Hardy and remained a private residence until 1990.

Rosemount's shady verandah and private gardens are used for quieter pursuits, and the parlour is just the spot for afternoon tea or evening board games. The inn is within walking distance of historic limestone shops offering such specialty goods as imported foods, designer apparel, books, and garden decor; one shop is decorated with the original 1890s advertisements. The Grand Theatre is three blocks from the inn and featured performers and stage productions run year-round. Kingston's Haunted Walk, an evening tour by lamplight of historic sites with ghostly pasts, is a favourite with guests-and Rosemount is included on the tour.

Kingston's has many attractions. Many travellers visit Bellevue House, home to Father of Confederation Sir John A. Macdonald; the Great Lakes Marine Museum, a fascinating look at life on the lakes; and Fort Henry, one of Canada's premier attractions. The Fort's Barracks Dining Room can be reserved for dinners, receptions and catered meetings. The 1000 Islands region is beloved by sailors, boaters and scuba divers. Chartered sailing and scenic dinner cruises of the 1000 Islands are very popular from May to October. Queen's University is home to the Agnes Etherington Art Museum and provides art history tours year-round.
